**REGISTRATION BEGINS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29 FOR CLASSES BEGINNING JANUARY 8**

Spots are VERY LIMITED.

** We ask that ONLY 1 PARENT accompany the skater into the arena during class, and social distance while in the stands.
Detailed instructions on drop-off / pick-up procedures will be emailed to participants prior to the first class.
Masks are required at all times while in Loring Arena, including when on the ice.

Each 45 minute class is structured to include a 5-minute warm-up, 35 minutes of instruction, and 5 minutes to practice.

BASIC BEGINNER (ages 5-10 yrs)
- This is an introduction to the Ice - Students will learn:
* Stand
* March
* Glide
* Forward Wiggles
* Backward Wiggles
BEGINNER (ages 7-12 yrs)
- Students should be able to skate across the ice (Home side to Away side) unassisted prior to registering for the Beginner Level
- Students will learn:
* Glide on 2 feet
* Glide on 2 feet and dip (bend knees)
* 2-foot sculling (pushing off with inside edge of skate)
* Snowplow stop
* 2-foot hop in place
* 2-foot hop moving
ADVANCED BEGINNER (ages 7-12 yrs)
- Students MUST be able to complete the BEGINNER skills PRIOR to registering for Advanced Beginner.
- Students will learn:
* Backwards skating
* Backward 2-foot glide
* Backward sculling
* Forward 1-foot glide
* 2-Foot turn in place (forward to back)
* Forward pumps in straight line
* Forward pumps in a circle
INTERMEDIATE (ages 10-12 yrs)
- Students MUST be able to complete the ADVANCED BEGINNER skills PRIOR to registering for INTERMEDIATE.
- Students will learn:
*Forward stroking, showing correct use of blade
* Forward 1/2 swizzle pumps on a circle
* Moving forward to backward 2-foot turn on a circle
* Slalom course on a circle
* Snowplow stop - 1 foot
* Forward outside edge on circle
* Forward inside edge on circle
* Forward crossovers
ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE (ages 10-12 yrs)
- Students MUST be able to complete the INTERMEDIATE skills PRIOR to registering for ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE.
- Students will learn:
* Backward 1-foot glide
* Backward cutbacks
* Hockey stop
* Lunge
* Forward outside 3-turn
* Forward spiral
* Bunny hop
* 2-foot spin

ALL SKATERS WILL NEED
- Skates that fit properly
- No double runners
- Skate rentals are available
- All skaters must wear approved helmets
- Bicycle helmets will NOT be allowed
- Please see link to "HELMET GUIDELINES" below
- Hockey, skateboard, or ski helmets are suitable for ice skate lessons
- Helmet rentals are NOT available
- Name tags will be provided and must be worn weekly
- Masks must be worn in order to participate
- Mittens or Gloves are mandatory
- It is also recommended that students dress in layers
