Loring Arena

History of the Facility
Loring Arena, owned by the City of Framingham, is managed by the Division of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs. Opened in November 1963, it was one of the first municipally owned, seasonally operated skating arenas in the region. Funding for the arena comes from a combination of City appropriations and user fees, and its operations are guided by the mission statement outlined below.

Mission Statement
It is the mission of Loring Arena to contribute to the overall recreational program of the City of Framingham, by providing for the varied skating needs of the community. It is our goal to have Loring Arena serve as a source of pride to the community while passing on as little cost to the City as possible.

Operational Hours
Loring Arena remains a seasonal facility and is widely regarded as one of the top ice surfaces in the state. The season typically runs from just after Labor Day until mid-April. The arena features a full-service skate shop and a snack bar for visitors. It is conveniently located near Longs Athletic Complex and Joseph P. Keefe Technical School.

Using the Arena
Loring Arena offers safe, reliable, and accessible skating services to the community, including regularly scheduled public skating and stick time sessions open to all. The arena also supports a variety of local organizations, including Framingham Youth Hockey, Framingham High School boys and girls hockey, Framingham Parks and Recreation programs, Framingham State University, Ashland High School, and several other user groups. Ice time is carefully scheduled to align with the arena's mission and ensure a balanced approach to serving the diverse skating interests of the community.
